More about a 12-hour to 6-week water fast

I've always had plenty of food to eat, and I was raised believing that fasting happened only once monthly for 24-hours as a religious practice.  So fasting for six weeks seemed superhuman.  But today, thanks to the internet and Youtube, I've found a comfortable understanding of the mysterious Biblical mentions of fasting and more.  And I've fasted as much as twelve days.

Top ten actions to reverse gum recession

I'm reversing my receding gums, having reduced my deepest pockets from 7 mm to 5 mm in two years (2013 update: I have now been pronounced free of gum problems at two dental exams).  I'm also seeing what I understand to be bone regrowth around my molars.

Ancient Fasting and LDS Fasting

Tom Haws 2007 (or earlier?)

Fasting
was practiced anciently and continues currently among the world religions whose adherents comprise most of the world's population.

Fasting Is A Peaceful Delight

My dad told me on the phone yesterday morning that he is in the middle of a three-day fast on water only with no enemas. I couldn't help but effuse with him, "Doesn't it feel great? Isn't it like being at a spa?"

I'm Stopping My Gum Disease Without Flossing

Around 1999 I learned from Mountain View Family Dentistry in Mesa, AZ that I had gum disease, and I was instructed to brush, floss, and rinse with Listerine after every meal, followed by 1/2 hour without any intake. I adhered to those instructions until my next visit, when I was told my gum disease had improved. But I quickly dropped the habit soon afterward.

I'm Reversing My Gum Disease Successfully

I reversed my gum disease successfully in 32 months by swishing frequently with water and cleaning once daily with a sonic toothbrush (Philips Sonicare) and a water flosser (Water Pik) before an intentional nightly fast. (2012 update: my new dentist pronounced me problem-free on December 10.)

I'm tired of this fast. I want it to be done. I want to be hungry again.

2010 Water Fast - Day 11

April 18, 2010
This morning (see yesterday) my pulse was 58 bpm. At noon it was 50 bpm. I walked minimally today. I noticed my mouth has tasted increasingly salty, metallic, or electrical since day 8. I guess that is a classic

2010 Water Fast - Day 10

April 17, 2010
Today (see yesterday) I noticed my tongue is white. I drank 3 1/2 quarts of distilled water. I read on Paul

2010 Water Fast - Day 9

April 16, 2010
Between today and yesterday I drank 8 quarts of distilled water. Today I walked and trotted around a little. I felt good.

2010 Water Fast - Day 7

April 14, 2010
Today (see yesterday) I had a little bowel movement in the morning. I had throat mucus and back pain after noon. I am very tired.

2010 Water Fast - Day 6

April 13, 2010
My pulse this morning (see yesterday) was 66 bpm. That's a bit high for me.

2010 Water Fast - Day 5

April 12, 2010
Today (see yesterday) I went to work at my engineering job as usual. Nobody accused me of fasting, though they commented as usual that I should gain weight.

2010 Water Fast - Day 4

April 11, 2010
Today (see yesterday) I continued to drink tap water when I was thirsty. I walked and trotted around. I felt good.

2010 Water Fast - Day 3

April 1, 2010
Today (see yesterday) I weighed myself 148 lb. (67 kg) in the morning with my clothes on. Also in the morning I had a big bowel movement. I have not been taking enemas, because I understand Herbert Shelton, who conducted over 30,000 fasts (De Vries, Arnold. Therapeutic Fasting, Chandler Book Co., Los Angeles, 1963, ch. IV.) recommended against routine enemas as unhelpful to the detoxification process, and Devries says an enema is required if a difficult bowel movement occurs, but not to induce a bowel movement (ch. VII).

I was faint, but happy, and stronger in the afternoon.

Acne: a noticeable facial pimple
