For the first time in many years, I got a hemorrhoid on Saturday May 3, and it bled more than any before it, so much that I got bloody underpants twice the next day. In the moment the pain, the lump, and the distress were so great that I thought surely all I had learned about hemorrhoids decades ago was garbage. But my son said, "They go away." So I went through all my previous discoveries and decided that for the previous few days I had been wearing my shorts poorly, with the waist tight above or at my belly button. I immediately changed that habit to wear them resting on my buttocks, and I started all the usual first aid including "Kegel" exercises (pelvic floor muscle training) and raising my desk to stand at work for a while. Sure enough, by the next Saturday my distress was gone and there was no lump obstructing my toilet wiping. My hemorrhoid posts aren't garbage. They really work, even when I am almost 60 years old!

Scientific vegan and raw-food vegan smoothie recipes
I am not a vegan; but I lean that way. And thanks to the interest of some friends and family, I immersed myself for the last couple of months in designing and testing some two-a-day smoothie recipes for complete nutrition.

Whole Foods Plant Based Eating
Whole Foods Plant Based Eating
by Kato D. Haws Jr.
July 7, 2020
I began eliminating animal products because of high cholesterol. I removed first
whole milk and eggs. Later all dairy. We ended up learning about various vegan diets,
including the Hallelujah Diet and the McDougall diet. In the end the people most
influential for us are Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Michael Greger. We rely heavily on
the recipes of Cathy Fisher of True North Health, which use no salt, oil or sugar, and no
animal products. Her recipes also happen to be gluten free, which is important to me, given
my family history of problems with wheat.
If you want to try a whole foods plant-based (WFPB) diet but don't know where
to begin here are a few suggestions.

My discoveries about my immunity symptoms: mouth (canker) sores (ulcers), acne, gum disease, and ear infection
At the age of 53 I've had some success with certain immunity issues. My symptoms have included mouth sores, acne, gum disease (in the past), and middle ear infection (otitis media). In this post I will summarize each one.

Free and natural hemorrhoid cure and prevention ideas list
My posts on hemorrhoid healing have received tons of excellent comments, and the information is getting a little overwhelming and scattered. So I am distilling here all the best elements of a lifestyle that cures and prevents hemorrhoids.

Restless legs, phytates, and the industrial age
Plants protect their seeds (their babies) from being digested (killed) by making them toxic with phytates (phytic acid), enzyme inhibitors, etc. Some animals thwart these protections with multiple stomachs, etc. Humans have for thousands of years thwarted these protections with elaborate food preparation schemes called recipes. Who needs four stomachs when you have the mind of a scientist?

Second clean dentist visit: my gum disease is cured!
I visited the dentist for my semi-annual checkup and cleaning a week ago. He charged me only for a regular cleaning, not a periodontal cleaning, and he said my gums looked great! My routine for the past two years has simply been to swish vigorously with water after every snack and meal and to clean my teeth with sonic brush and waterpik (classic jet or pocket tip) and occasionally a germicide before every nightly fast. See my posts about gum disease for more details.

More about a 12-hour to 6-week water fast
I've always had plenty of food to eat, and I was raised believing that fasting happened only once monthly for 24-hours as a religious practice. So fasting for six weeks seemed superhuman. But today, thanks to the internet and Youtube, I've found a comfortable understanding of the mysterious Biblical mentions of fasting and more. And I've fasted as much as twelve days.

New awareness ideas for curing hemorrhoids
I've explained in a very old and popular post how to cure hemorrhoids permanently for free. Tonight some new ideas crystallized for me that may be helpful for anybody having trouble putting a permanent end to their hemorrhoids naturally. The first idea is about awareness of holding urges. The second is about urinating separate from and after bowel movements.

Restless legs, deficiency, and oats?
Last night when I retired I had restless legs again.
The thought occurred to me to Google "restless legs deficiency", and it
looked like iron and magnesium deficiency are possibly linked to
restless legs.

Leaky Gut Syndrome: An Introduction
By K. D. Haws
"Leaky Gut Syndrome" is a condition where the cells of the lining of the small intestine are overly permissive in what they allow to pass from the gut to the blood stream. The most common result is that incompletely prepared amino acids enter the blood stream (along with normal good nutrients). These incompletely prepared amino acids cause varying degrees of harmful results, ranging from mild to severe.

All Purpose Power Healing Diet
By K. D. Haws
A natural healing diet must have the
following components, in my opinion: a) allow for the healing of
leaky gut, b) remove the most common allergenic foods for a period of
time, c) neutralize acidic conditions of the body, d) provide
adequate calories and abundant nutrients, and e) tend to normalize
weight.

How My Grandma Cleared My Grandpa's Constipation and Avoided Surgery
Around 1990 my Grandpa Haws had a bad car crash that put him in the hospital for a long time, where he became so constipated that he was told his constipation might have to be relieved by surgery. My Grandma vigorously objected and told him what to do to clear his constipation that very day.

I reversed my gum disease in 32 months cleaning once daily without flossing
On April 6, 2010 my dentist declared I had gum disease pockets, one 7mm deep and fourteen 6mm deep. On December 10, 2012, my dentist told me I had "no problems" and gave me only a regular cleaning, not a periodontal cleaning. In the 32 months between those two visits, I used no floss and little toothpaste, but I did faithfully sleep every night with teeth cleaned by sonic brushing and Waterpik irrigation.
